About Us

Control Products Online is part of the standard products division of Control Products, Inc., a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of electronic controls, with factories in both Minnesota and China.

Since its founding in 1985, Control Products has established itself as a global manufacturing and distribution company with the following three divisions:

• Standard Products: Our standard controls division offers a wide variety of off-the shelf temperature, humidity, timers, proximity, and infra red controls.
• Protected Home: This consumer products oriented division offers products for home protection that included temperature monitoring, water leakage detection and home based security.
• Custom OEM: Designs and manufactures custom electronic control circuits for a broad range of industries including food service equipment, HVAC, medical and industrial.

The Standard Products Division distributes its products through heating, plumbing, electrical and industrial wholesalers and contractors worldwide.

Chris Berghoff, our CEO and founder, was at Honeywell for ten years when he realized the potential of using microprocessors in small digital, electronic controls. In 1985, Chris left Honeywell to design his first of several hundred standard electronic controllers, indicators, sensors and alarms for temperature, humidity and pressure. The business grew to become a global leader in the design and manufacture of electronic controls for industries worldwide.

Our popular FreezeAlarm products were first introduced to the world in 1987. These products were initially designed to detect rising temperatures in a cold storage facility such as a walk in cooler, freezer or supermarket freezer. The product evolved into a remote temperature monitoring product. Over the years, the product line grew to include many products designed to protect commercial, residential and agricultural facilities from damage caused by frozen pipes, water leaks, flooding and intruders.

Today, our Standard Products Division manufactures and distributes temperature and humidity products including indicators, alarms, controllers, sensors, water alarms and remote monitoring products throughout the world. The Standard Products Division is based in Chanhassen, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis.
